The Ford Explorer has been a leading model in its segment for decades. Launched in 1991, this midsize crossover SUV has progressively improved over the years in numerous ways. The 2019 Ford Explorer is available in five well-designed trims. From highest to lowest, these are the Platinum, the Sport, the Limited, the XLT as well as the base trim. Because each trim is well-equipped, you cannot go wrong regardless of which Explorer you decide to take home. At the lowest trim level, the 2019 Explorer gives you folding rear seats with manual operation, cloth seating with multiple attractive color choices, a manual climate control system, six speakers for the basic sound system, cruise control, automatic up-down power windows, a USB port, power-adjustable side mirrors with a heating element, speed-sensing powered door locks and a few additional features.
In comparison, the most advanced trim is the Platinum. Some of its many standard or optional features include ambient lighting, a moonroof, LED automatic headlamps, intelligent access paired with a push-button ignition, LED fog lights, LED tail lights, several mounted controls on the heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, memory settings for the power-adjusted driver's pedals, leather interior with power-adjustable and heated front seats, powered folding rear seats, illumination with remote keyless entry, a rear spoiler, parking assistance paired with the rearview monitor, adaptive cruise control, SiriusXM audio and a more advanced sound system.
Before taking home your 2019 Explorer make plans to test drive each of the three powertrains available. All powertrains give you incredible performance behind the wheel, but their capabilities vary. The most advanced powertrain is a V6, 3.5-liter EcoBoost powertrain that uses unleaded gas and that offers 350 foot-pounds combined with 365 horsepower. A second powertrain option is a V6, 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine with 280 horsepower as well as 310 foot-pounds of torque. The base trim for the 2019 Explorer comes with a V6 Ti-VCT, 3.5-liter engine, which offers 290 horsepower and 255 ft.-pounds of torque. All three powertrains may be paired with an auto transmission, electric power steering, trailer sway control, an independent rear and front suspension system, hill start assist, hill descent control, terrain management control and additional features.
When you get behind the wheel of your new 2019 Explorer you can feel confident thanks to the SUV's many security and safety features. All five trims are well-equipped.
